Visas are required to visit Bhutan and cannot be obtained at foreign embassies. Visas are processed through local tour operators when booking a tour. We will apply for your visa once the full tour payment is received and will need the following information:

  1. Please email a clear scanned copy of your passport (photo and details page).
  2. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure from Bhutan.

Arrival by Air

  1. Visa applications are processed in advance, and you’ll receive a visa clearance document, which is needed for check-in and boarding your flight to Bhutan.
  2. Your actual visa will be stamped in your passport upon arrival at Paro International Airport.
  3. A passport-size photo is not required for immigration at Paro Airport.

Arrival by Land (border towns adjacent to India)

  1. Visa applications are processed in advance, and a clearance document will be sent to you. This document is required at immigration checkpoints at Phuntsholing, Samdrup Jongkhar, and Gelephu.
  2. Upon arrival at the immigration checkpoints in Phuntsholing, Samdrup Jongkhar, or Gelephu, your visa will be stamped on your passport.
  3. A passport-sized photo is NOT required.
  4. Fingerprints and photos will be taken at the border town Immigration check points at Phuntsholing and Samdrup Jongkhar.

E-Visa Clearance

Ensure you travel with the same passport used for your Bhutan visa. We cannot be held responsible if the passport doesn’t match. You won’t be allowed to board your flight or enter Bhutan at border towns in such cases.

Other Country Visas

Ensure you have the necessary visas and documents for any countries you transit through or visit before or after Bhutan. We recommend obtaining double-entry visas for convenience.
