Experience the majestic beauty of the Western Bhutan with Rustic Frontiers. Our Western Bhutan tour offers breathtaking landscapes, cultural immersion, and thrilling adventures, ensuring an unforgettable journey through one of the world’s most stunning regions.
You’ll arrive in Paro and take a breathtaking flight over the Himalayas, including views of Everest and Bhutan’s sacred peaks. After landing and completing airport procedures, you’ll drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, known for its blend of tradition and modernity. You’ll have free time to explore Thimphu or visit Trashichho Dzong, the fortress that houses the King’s throne room and various government offices. If it’s a weekday, you might see the National Flag Hoisting and Guards’ March. You’ll stay overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.
You’ll explore Thimphu, starting with the impressive Buddha Dordenma statue for stunning city views. Then, hike the Kuenselphodang Nature Park trail through pine forests. Visit the Royal Takin Reserve to see Bhutan’s national animal and explore the Royal Textile Museum to learn about traditional textiles. Finally, witness traditional paper-making at a local factory before heading back to Paro for the night.
On this day, you’ll visit Bhutan’s iconic Tiger’s Nest monastery, perched 900 meters above the valley floor. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress in the 8th century, meditating in a cave for three months. The monastery, initially built in 1692, was restored after a fire in 1998. Next, explore Kyichu Temple in Paro, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples, believed to have been built overnight on a demoness’s left foot to aid the spread of Buddhism. Explore the Phuba Mandala Display Center, where sand mandalas are created, showcasing Buddhist cultural and philosophical themes. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll along Paro’s main street before returning to your hotel for the night. (Overnight in Paro)
